Excellent fishing action out of the Delacroix marsh today. After some sub par trips during the week due to high winds and dirty water, today was just what the doctor ordered. The speckled trout were in a good feeding pattern all morning. We fed them artificial cocahoes in alvacado and smoke with  red tail colors. These fish were holding on the bottom in 18 feet of water and we needed 3/8 ounce jigheads to get the lures into the strike zone. The fish are still in the deep winter time holes on the inside. You do not need to run way outside right now. The trout were 13-16″ with a few throwbacks. This action slowed and we ventured out to the outer bays looking for redfish action. We worked windward coves and points with live cocahoes 3-4 feet under corks. One break off red and plenty more trout was all we got to show for the run. The water is high in the marsh right now and the reds must be up in the grass. I spotted several different groups of birds west of the islands and gave a couple of drifts. More trout up to 15″ with a few throwbacks. The water looked good everywhere we went, but cloudied up a little in the afternoon. Saturday looks like it will be ideal with light winds and good tides.
