Delacroix Report – 5/28/2015

Strange tide today in Delacroix. The tide fell at just less than half a foot today until about 10 AM. It stopped and never started to rise again until after we left around 1:30 PM. We took advantage for the fall to catch a good mess of speckled trout on a flat adjacent to a deep hole. Plenty of bait in the area and the fish were aggressive. We worked live shrimp carolina rigged, 2 feet under corks and artificial cocahoes tightlined on jig heads to catch the trout. There were alot of smaller throwbacks mixed in with the keepers. Once the tide stopped, we struggled. We hit several other spots including running out to try and catch the incoming tide, but were unable to find any water moving other than wind driven water. We managed to get on a good redfish bite and boxed 10 as well as a couple of flounders and some black drum. Good day considering the conditions.
